Area

Today we explored Area...in our classroom.  Some friends were confused between area and perimeter.  Here is a cute video to help our understanding of these two concepts:

We thought of things we could measure in the classroom...no one found the area of the carpet though!  We used non-standard units of measurement like sticky notes and coloured tiles.  Take a look at what we discovered!

We Made it Rain (kind of)!

Today we did an experiment that used a kettle with water, ice cubes and a cookie sheet.  We boiled the water and noticed steam rising from the kettle (evaporation).  We place some ice cubes on a cookie sheet and placed it over the water. Guess what?  Underneath the cookie sheet you could see water droplets forming AKA...condensation.  Thankfully, no one got wet...except the cookie sheet!

Perimeter and Kindness Week

We had a busy day using Tellegami and Pic Collage to show the ways we are kind at St. Cecilia.


We also continued our inquiry into Perimeter...

We know a lot!
